Feelin' fine.
Writer’s block is a…thing.
Man, who knew that taking two weeks off from writing would throw my rhythm off so badly? Writing about writer’s block is seemingly the height of pretentious writer tricks (Finding Forrester, Wonder Boys, Adaptation, ad nauseum), but when you’re struggling even to recall the word to use to explain your particular conundrum (the word I couldn’t articulate was “articulate”), it seems like the place to go as a writer.
The traveling NASCAR circus heads to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend, which is in Joliet, Illinois. Trust me, you’ll thank me later for avoiding the “easy out” Blues Brothers references. That draft was terrible.

Raindrops keep falling on my truck.
Rain, lightning and even the potential for a tornado has delayed the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250
Truck Series race at
Kansas Speedway on Lap 53 of 167.
Mike Skinner was leading at the time of the rain delay.
Brian Ickler, subbing for
Kyle Busch in the 51 truck while he races at
Talladega, was running 2nd.
The race will resume where they left off on Monday morning at 10:00 EST. They can’t run tomorrow because it conflicts with both the Cup race for broadcast and the IndyCar Series race which is paired with the Trucks at Kansas this weekend.

J.J. Yeley and his wisp of facial hair are back in NASCAR.
J.J. Yeley is back in NASCAR. This is good news for NASCAR fans of the soul patch, who have had to avoid tapping out our nation’s “Strategic
Paul Menard Reserve” for the last year during our the soul patch drought we’ve had without Yeley. In any event, J.J. Yeley will be driving the 73 truck for Tagsby Racing, an upstart
Truck Series effort out of Ardmore, Oklahoma, centrally located about 100 miles from Restrictor Plated World Headquarters. They purchased the truck from Gaughan Racing and the engines are from Kevin Troyer Racing Engines. Good luck to J.J. on Saturday at
Kansas.

NASCAR hasn't happened in Colorado since 2005 and may not come back.
It seems that asking the government to pick up part of the check for building a new racetrack is an even harder sell than usual these days. The Denver Business Journal (in usual, “we don’t usually write about racing, so let’s trot out unfamiliar and awkward racing metaphors” fashion) is reporting that a bill in the Colorado legislature that would ultimately provide tax breaks to ISC to build a track in (likely) Aurora may be in trouble. If it does ultimately fail, this would put ISC’s record of getting governments on board with building new tracks at an abysmal 1 for 5. They had previously failed to get Marysville and Bremerton, Washington on board and the less said about the Staten Island disaster, the better. (Kansas Speedway was the success, if you were curious.)

NASCAR fans have been embracing Twitter very rapidly. NASCAR has always been a fan-friendly sport and Twitter is helping fans online connect to not just other fans, but also tracks, sponsors, teams and even some drivers.
