HP 2000-410US I saw some of the reviews on here and thought I would add my 2 cents. I bought this computer at Office Depot for 350 dollars (sorry amazon … love your prices usually but not this time) For the price and specs this is an excellent computer. If you are looking for a computer that does more than surf the web and homework this is NOT the computer for you so dont leave comments saying that this computer is bad because the graphics are not great … they aren’t supposed to be great and those are not productive comments. If you ARE looking for a comp for school (as I was looking for) this is an excellent choice with great specs and a great price. As per some of the other comments.
I have had no problems connecting to the internet and if you are looking for a bigger laptop with a key pad this is not the computer you should have bought in the first place. Battery life a great (in my opinion, although I have not pushed it yet to see if it goes past 3+ hours). I agree that the arrow keys are a little annoying but then again my last two laptops were Toshiba Satellites and I was used those types of keyboards for a while. I’ll get used to it. Overall exactly what I thought I was getting and works exactly for what I want; surfing and reviewing/writing documents.

HP dv6-3140us I’ve had this computer for about a month now and have no problems so far. I’ve found that the battery lasts about 3 hours with wifi off and on power settings set to conserve battery life. They keyboard is great in my opinion. They keys are raised slightly above a glossy surrounding which keeps most dust and dirt from getting under the keys. It’s really easy to wipe off any dust that might get on it.
The fingerprint reader doesn’t work with Google chrome, so if you’re a Chrome fan this might apply to you. There is a plugin for Firefox to use it, but I don’t like Firefox. Otherwise it works great.
The entire trackpad area is touch-sensitive so that means you can’t rest your thumb on the click buttons. It doesn’t have the scroll area on the side of the pad like some computers do. Instead you have to use the two finger scrolling, which took me a few days to get used to but now it’s simple and easy to use.
The keyboard has a column of 5 dedicated buttons on the leftmost side. The buttons open HP Mediasmart, which is this panel that opens on-screen to access the webcam, video editor, etc, there is one that opens your default web browser, a print button, and a calculator button which is mostly useless to me, but if you use the calculator included in Windows a lot then it would come in useful. The only thing is is that I often accidentally hit the button when trying to use the ctrl button.
After getting used to typing on the keyboard I find it very comfortable as it is not too mushy and not too hard.
This computer was a replacement for my old Compaq Presario, so I figured I’d buy an HP since Compaq is an HP owned company. The speakers on my Presario were fantastic, so I was a little worried that this laptop would have the much-hated cheap speakers that a lot of them have. I loved this one because the speakers are in the front like my Presario and let me tell you.. I was not disappointed with these speakers. They are plenty loud and don’t echo like the ones on my sister’s Dell. So I really think that’s a big plus.
The hard-drive is advertised as 640 GB, which the computer has, but I thought you should know that there is a partition of it that is unaccessible as it is used for back-up and recovery, this was no problem for me, because I knew it would be like that as it was with my Presario. Anywhere from 580-590 GBs are usable depending on the configuration of software and features.
The plastic around the screen is really scratch-prone. So I use a soft towel to wipe it with.
I really love the aluminum body, as it doesn’t collect fingerprints too bad.
Here are some little things that I liked about it aren’t totally important:
It comes with a pretty long power adapter. I’d say it’s almost ten feet long although I haven’t measured it.
The HP logo on the front of the laptop lights up, which I thought was kind of cool.
The USB ports aren’t all crammed in the same place, so you can use three USB powered devices at the same time and not worry about cramming the plugs in the same area.
It doesn’t feel as heavy as you would think, considering that it’s a 15.6 inch.
I actually didn’t buy this item from Amazon, where I had originally planned on ordering it, because, at the last minute, I did a search and found the exact same laptop on the HP website for about $50 less.
Overall, I’m in love with this laptop. It’s fast, beautiful, and easy to use.

Canon 60D Kit I’ve only used this 60D Kit camera for a month or so, but it haven’t let me down once. I”ve upgraded from old Digital Rebel and have been very happy with my decision since.
I”m a photography student and Canon 60D has everything I need. It’s almost like 7D with a few minor differences but at about half of the price. Camera feels professional and solid in your hand but it’s not heavy (comparable to my old Rebel).
I love the rotating screen on the back (7D doesn’t have it by the way) – it’s perfect for video and self portraits, because you can see what you are shooting without looking through the viewfinder (handy feature!).
Canon 60D also features loads of new features, great auto focusing modes, I love the fact that the camera uses SD memory (opposite to CF in 7D) as almost every laptop has a card reader for SD these days, so you spare yourself an expense and discomfort of having a separate card reader.
I haven’t tried the video yet, but from what I hear the quality is amazing. Sound is mono (7D has stereo FYI).
Bottom line – it’s a perfect fairly inexpensive (for what it does) camera for serious amateur or beginner pro. Eventually I will consider upgrade to 5D Mark, but so far it’s a great camera for what I need.

BlackBerry 9900 Unlocked I’m an Iphone user and Android user mostly, but if you have to have a Blackberry, this is a very nice device. It does do 3G on AT&T, it is snappy, the hardware feels very solid and quality-constructed. The screen is very high quality and the touch functionality works nicely.
To me, the differentiating factor of a Blackberry (at least with their current OS) is that it has a full keyboard. If you are an email maven and don’t spend much time on the internet, this is a quality device for that. On the contrary, this device does a very good job of integrating Twitter and Facebook into the factory-ready experience. A little ‘net, and a lot of email productivity.
Yes, iPhone and Android have more apps. If you need a full spectrum experience, you’ve probably already considered iPhone or an Android. That being said, if you strongly prefer a full keyboard or must use Blackberry, this is a very nice device.
The battery life is great, too!

I was looking for something I could use to read and chat online, work on office documents, and that could handle playing things like The Sims 2. After weeks of research I decided on the ASUS A53E-AS31 black
It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I found it easy to set up, fast, and it runs quietly. I have had no problems using it for anything I need it to do. I do wish it had came with things like word preloaded, but a quick download from OpenOffice.org fixed that.
Over all I find this to be a fast, easy to use machine, and would gladly recommend it to my friends.

Sony VPCEL24FX/B This Sony laptop is good for the $500 range, with decent specifications that lets the user do basic computing (microsoft office, editing software), web surfing, and for media purposes (watching a movie, streaming, playing music). I’ll break down this review into several parts: Hardware, keyboard, Design, touchpad, screen, and performance.
Hardware
* Some connections: 4 USB 2.0, 1 HDMI input, DVD drive, VGA port. All basic necessities.
* The AMD Dual core E 450 1.65 Ghz processor isn’t bad. It doesn’t have enough juice to play games, but it does give you enough power to run through programs like Microsoft Word, powerpoint, and some editing software (windows movie maker) fairly easily. Just don’t expect it to be blazing fast. The processor is one of the main weakpoints of this laptop.
* 4 GB of RAM (Can upgrade to 8GB RAM) is more than enough RAM for computing tasks. Windows 7 64 Bit is the installed OS.
* The AMD Radeon 6320 Graphics card is a step up from integrated graphics. It won’t run powerful games like Crysis 2 nor Bioshock, but it will smoothly run some of the less graphic-intensive games like Left 4 dead 2, counter strike, Call of duty 4, and team fortress.
Keyboard
* The keys are in an island layout and keys generally feel quiet and comfortable. I’ve adjusted to the island style, but I still prefer the keys to be together.
* There is no flex. The keyboard is stable.
* Keys are responsive and have good feedback. Keys “pop” back up quickly, which is a plus for fast typists.
Design
* I like the black and gray pattern that is on the front cover and palm rest. The pattern includes squares, hexagons, and parallelogram (finally, geometry comes in handy). It gives it a subtle, but bold texture to the laptop.
* The speakers are placed on the horizontal panel where the screen meets the keyboard. The power button and indicators are placed in the top right corner. The placement of the power button and speakers make good sense.
* The battery charger is thick, sturdy, and feels built to last.
Touchpad
* The touchpad is positioned a little bit off centered to the left, which is a different. Notebooks and netbooks I’ve tried in the past have had the touchpad centered. I like this subtle change. It also reduces the chance of the right palm accidentally grazing the touchpad while typing.
* The touchpad has a nice texture and is very responsive. The left and right clicks are rigid and isn’t too loud when clicked.
Screen
* The native resolution is 1366 x 768. The screen isn’t as bright as I had expected. Even at the highest brightness, it still feels a little bit dim. Still, details and picture quality is good.
Performance
* The graphics card is a huge plus and gives the laptop some juice when it comes to processing pictures, and providing a smooth experience. The dual core 1.65 ghz CPU will do fine with basic computing tasks. While it is capable of gaming and heavier programs like Photoshop, it’s barely playable/usable.
* Bloatware (as expected) is installed on this laptop. There are some useful programs, but most should be uninstalled for an optimal computing experience.
Overall, programs and loading is generally instantaneous. Again, not blazing fast, but definitely good enough for schoolwork & at the workplace, some editing, and media (movies, streaming, and music). This laptop has a nice, stylish design and is a decent laptop for the $500 price range.
